Musician Showcase:
Timeless
Takeover
FRONT
MAN Tim Felton
Tim Felten is an SDSU School of
Music Alumni with a plan for the San Diego Music scene.
He loves the funk, but all he hears is crunk. If you are
a downtempo/funk/soul/or hiphop music lover, then The
Timeless Takeover is your Mecca. The Timeless Takeover
is a KCR Radio show turned weekly music event @ Kadan in
North Park. It is also the moniker of Tim's budding
label, home to acts such as ID, Genius of Soul, and Stop
Paving Roads. Genius of Soul, (which Tim plays keys for
and produces) has just released the first pressing of a
45rpm single. It is available at
www.geniusofsoul.com,
and won't last long. Genius of Soul hopes to have a full
length cd in stores by January 2007. So, if you want
more funk, and less crunk, come pay Tim a visit on a
Friday night @ Kadan (4696 30th St., 92116) or look for
Genius of Soul playing a venue near you...
The Timeless Takeover was
started to provide a cozy atmosphere for creativity and
meeting... where can you go to see good genre bending
live music, dance to the grooves of good DJ's, and not
have to dress like you're going to a business meeting...
we have a weekly event at Kadan (most fridays, Jazz 88.3
has the fourth friday), where you'll see a
ground-breaking local act and good DJ music every
time... The shows are free, and the drinks are cheap...
The Timeless Takeover is the response of musicians
reacting to the interesting production style of DJ's
such as Shadow, Automator, Cut Chemist, Premier, Bonobo,
Crush... in blending classic underground jazz, funk,
soul, and rock with the dance styles... we look up to
artists such as Tortoise, Bill Laswell, Herbie Hancock,
Beastie Boys.. who are producing music years ahead of
there time... We are an up and coming record label
seeking to produce and promote artists with similar
visions and aspirations...

Internet Streaming Radio
Ready to
get your stream on!
Well, we
have piled up a few of our favorite streams available on
the net. Enjoy!
The SDSU College Radio Station:
KCR!
KCR
is a volunteer-run student radio station located on San
Diego State University grounds.
We have been operating primarily on
cable radio systems since our beginning in 1969. This
had been our only option due to the FM and AM bands
being divided between the United States and Mexico, thus
leaving no space for local non-commercial stations in
San Diego. Along the way, we've also added an AM
transmission and internet streaming allowing our
programs to be heard throughout the world.
KCR is one of the last free form radio
stations in the country. If you hear it on
commercial radio stations, you won't hear it here.

THIS WEEK:
Studio Microphone Topics:
The key to
capturing a great source audio track starts with
understanding the right type of microphone for the right
situation. To help you sort through the many different
options and techniques, we have provided a copy of the
Sweetwater Microphone guide
on our tech page. In it you will find details regarding
microphone types, polarity patterns, diaphragm sizes,
and much more.
